Event Information
Envision a triathlon with amazing views. Blue water, Rolling hills through the bike course and one fast run along the bay. Have your eyes opened on August 30th, 2009 In Petoskey MI. Join fellow athletes with 2 distances to choose from: the half IM 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run. Quarterman distance .6 mile swim, 28 mile bike, and 6.2 mile run. Relay teams for both races will be welcome.

Cadence Cycle is a title sponsor for this event. There will also be local sponsors on hand. All athletes entering the event will receive a Zorrel tee and a Headsweat moisture wicking visor. Finish line food provided by Flatiron Deli. This local fav will have wraps, chips and fruits on hand to all athletes.

Course Detail (general)
The Breakwater Triathlon is a unique experience unlike any other triathlon.
SWIM COURSE-(L-shape course) The start and finish for the swim are in different locations. The start line is on the beach near the break wall, athletes will swim out along to wall then make a right turn. Quarterman distance cut off will be clearly marked. When are heading back they will make a left in to boat lanes (boat traffic will be closed during race) heading towards boat launch. When exiting athletes will turn left into transition area near clock tower T1 when leaving transition athletes go to a small series of step and tunnel (tunnel is under US-31) up the bike mount line. Through this section you may use the steps (faster route) or wheel chair ramps (slower route) Please use the route YOU are most comfortable with.
BIKE ROUTE- (modified out and back course) Starting with a climb out of Petoskey. Athletes will take on the challenging hills of Emmet and Cheboygan county. Heading out to the Village of Wolverine to the turn around point. Athletes will then head on Mitchell in a NW direction back into Petoskey. RUN COURSE- (out and back) Enjoy the spectacular view of Little Traverse Bay as you run along the Bay. This run course is fairly flat and fast. There are some hills to negotiate. This path was just completed and paved.

Element Events Inc. will offer a 50% refund on your entry fees (not including your Active.com fee) for all athletes registered before July 1st, 2009. All refund request must be submitted in writing by July 1st, 2009 to:

Transfer: Athletes may not transfer or gift their regisration.
Cancellations
In accordance with Element Events Inc., park officials, city officials and local law enforcement has the authority to cancel any of the events for emergency purposes such as, but not limited to, inclement weather. If such emergency conditions force cancellation, refunds cannot be provided since funds will have been spent in preparation for Race Day. T-shirts will be distributed.
