Welcome to the Detroit Triathlon. This is true fast flat course. It’s a great beginner course, or a fun challenge for veterans to go for an all out leg burning sprint! Enjoy the classic sprint (800m swim, 12.4 bike, 3.1 run) or the olympic distance (0.9 swim, 24.8 bike, 6.2 run)

Each discipline is in loop format

Swim Course- Straight line swim heading east. (Different from the posted map) A ¼ mile swim line Sprint distance out and back, Olympic 2 laps. Athletes will be swimming parallel with the shore line/beach area. Depths will be around 4ft in most areas with a very nice sandy bottom. There is not much current on the North side of the island.

Bike Course- An all out flat, leg burning sprint. Each lap is 6.2 miles long. Converting into Sprint distance=2 laps Olympic=4 laps. You will see amazing views of the city sky line and enjoy the sites and sounds of Belle Isle.

Run Course- A point to point loop format. Cutting through the core of the island, the run section will give a different view. Heading through the woods but staying a wide paved trail/road. 1 loop for Sprints 2 for Olympic distance.

Element Events will offer a transfer policy on upcoming 2010 events. Your transfer will NOT be accepted for 2011 events. $20 will be charged to transfer your entry among any of the 2010 Element Event triathlon events. TRANSFER must be equal value. Athletes are NOT allowed to sell or gift their registration to another athlete

Cancellations
In accordance with Element Events Inc., park officials, city officials and local law enforcement has the authority to cancel any of the events for emergency purposes such as, but not limited to, inclement weather. If such emergency conditions force cancellation, refunds cannot be provided since funds will have been spent in preparation for Race Day. T-shirts will be distributed.
